FC Barcelona: Messi In Perfect Shape For Celta Clash, Confirms Luis Enrique

Lionel Messi missed Argentina’s two friendlies during the international break with an ankle problem but trained “without any problems” for FC Barcelona on Saturday. And Luis Enrique has confirmed that his star striker is fully recovered now and he might start against Celta Vigo tonight.

Leo Messi was part of Argnetinaa s squad for their two friendlies against El Salvador and Ecuador during the international break but he missed both the games because of an ankle injury.

However, Messi is training with FC Barcelona squad now and the coach gave an update on his injury status in his press conference.

“Messi has trained in the two sessions the same as the rest of them, with no problem. He’s available; I can’t see any problem there. He’s in perfect shape to play,” said Luis Enrique.

Before joining FC Barcelona, Luis Enrique was the coach of Celta Vigo and it will be an emotional moment for the Andalusian to face his former side. And Luis Enrique was full of praise for his former club.

“The club meant many things for me, all of them positive. It’s a club that used its youth system well, a unique city and a very special group of players. It was a great year for Celta and for me. I have fond memories of being there. I’m looking forward to returning to Vigo.”

Luis Enrique has also urged his team mates to not to underestimate the importance of Celta game and try to secure all three points against them.

“All matches are important. In these final phases of a championship, easy rivals don’t exist. The teams lower down the table need points. What happened last season must serve as an example.”

“I don’t think that any of the four teams that can still win the league will manage to win the lot. I hope I’m proven wrong and that FC Barcelona do so.”

“In that first game we were clearly superior, but the result says otherwise.”

FC Barcelona currently has 68 points to their name and they are 4 points ahead of eternal rivals Real Madrid in La Liga table.
