Jurgen Klopp will stand on the sidelines as Borussia Dortmund manager for the last time, as his side take on VFL Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal final. Klopp is set to step aside as the manager of the club after this final game. In his farewell match, the German manager would love to win it and secure a third DFB Pokal championship in the eight seasons. Borussia Dortmund have had a terrible season this time around. After a nightmarish start to the league campaign, Klopp’s men have secured 30 points in the last 15 matches to secure a seventh position finish in the league table and a Europa League spot.
Ahead of the final clash, Jurgen Klopp addressed the media. . He said: “From the first day we began our season preparations, our goal was to get here and to make an impact. I’m happy that we’ve succeeded. Every game was difficult, the path we’ve taken wasn’t easy.”
About his team’s recent run of form and Klopp said: “Both teams are on good form. Everything is at stake for both of us. That’s the great thing about the final.”
Dortmund players like Nuri Sahin, Kevin Kampl, Kevin GroAYkreutz and Adrian Ramos will not feature in today’s game due to injury concerns. About the injuries and B aszczykowski’s return, Klopp said: “He will complete a normal training session today. He could play 90 minutes in the final if he had to. We’ll have to see whether that happens.”
About Shinji Kagawa Klopp had opined, “A player of Kagawa’s talent can’t keep it quiet forever. We have all been absolutely delighted that he’s started to show it right before the final. I certainly won’t be stopping him.”
