Chelsea FC Boss Guus Hiddink Says Manchester United Winger Memphis Depay Needs More Time To Settle Into Premier League

As rising Dutch star Memphis Depay has been criticised for his poor performances for Manchester United this season, Chelsea FC interim boss feels that the 21-year-old needs more time to settle into the Premier League.

Depay had come in for more criticism of late, when his mistake resulted in Stoke City scoring their first goal of their 2-0 defeat of Manchester United, in the Boxing Day encounter.

.

However, the former Netherlands manager feels that his young compatriot has to be given more time, in order to get used to the pace of the Premier League.

“He’s a very young guy,” Hiddink was quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror. “When he was in Holland he was one of the star players, at a very young age.a

Hiddink also suggested that Depaya s fame might have been a bit overplayed because of the lack of young talents in the Eredivisie at the moment.

“There is a lack of star players in Holland who are playing already many years in their league so at a young age he was bombarded as one of the big talents,a said the newly appointed Chelsea FC manager.

“He has this talent but he’s also now having a confrontation with the demands of the Premier League, which are much higher in intensity of the game during 90 minutes,a he continued. “That’s a period all players, not just him, have to overcome, and I think they need time for that.a

Some still think that Chelsea FC might not be serious relegation candidates, but standing at the 15th spot on the Premier League table, they certainly are fighting that battle at the moment.

While Hiddinka s second spell at the West London club started with a 2-2 draw against the high-flying Watford, he would soon be hoping for better results from his new side.
