Brendan Rodgers Confident Of Rebuilding Liverpool FC Following Sion Draw

A much changed Liverpool FC were held to a 1-1 draw at the hands of Swiss side FC Sion at Anfield in their second tie of the UEFA Europa League, as the Reds once again failed to convince the supporters with their performance.

Manager Brendan Rodgers had relieved some of the pressure on him by the victory at the weekend, where Liverpool put in a good performance to beat Aston Villa 3-2.

Rodgers rested the likes of Sturridge, Lucas, Milner, Moreno, Coutinho, Skrtel and Sakho for the Europe League draw against Sion.

However, boos rang out at Anfield at the end of 90 minutes, with Rodgers’ make-shift Liverpool XI failing to beat a side that is 5th in the 10-team Swiss league.

Rodgers, though, remained confident of building again at the club which has seen two 50m GBP sale in the last two years, as well as departure of key players like Daniel Agger, Pepe Reina, and captain Steven Gerrard.

a Ita s the pressures of a huge club like this,a he was quoted saying to BT Sports in the clip below.

a But I immensely enjoy the job here. Ita s a wonderful challenge, in terms of how wea ve been building it over a couple of years.

a Ita s a rebuilding job again, and wea ll take it forward hopefully.a

Rodgers’ post-match comment best reflect the poor recruitment policy that has led down Liverpool FC in recent seasons. Despite the infamous transfer committee at Anfield spending over 300m GBP, the Reds have been unable to build a squad that beats FC Sion in the Europa League.
