Bayern Munich Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has rubbished reports that his side’s current manager Pep Guardiola will join Manchester City in the summer.
The Spaniard has been linked with an exit from the club with Manchester City being linked. Bayern Munich could yet win a treble, but Guardiola has been criticised by few for the manner in which his side lost to Wolfsburg a few months back and to FC Porto last week. He also had a much-publicised fallout with club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt which led to the 72-year old’s resignation along with three other who belonged to the medical team.
Despite his chopping and changing which has led to a few shock defeats, Guardiola still deserves a lot of credit for keeping his side in all the competitions till now. The side are in the UEFA Champions League semi-final and in the DFB Pokal semi-final. They are 12 points clear in the Bundesliga, which means they’ll have at least one trophy at the end of the season. As a result, Guardiola will most likely stay till the end of his contract at least which runs until June 2016.
On the other hand, Manchester City have struggled this season under Roberto Mancini as his tactical decisions have backfired. City somehow made it out of their group in the Champions League but were put to their place by a dominant Barcelona performance. They have dropped to fourth in the Premier League after losing four out of their last seven games which could mean Pellegrini’s end in the summer.
When Rummenigge was asked about the speculation of Guardiola joining Manchester City at the end of the season, he said, “I don’t worry about the rumour,” he said. “It’s just proof of his quality.
“But I can’t imagine that Guardiola leaves for a club like Manchester City.
Manchester City fans would have loved to have someone like Pep at the club considering what he has achieved in his relatively short managerial career and the manner in which he has done so. However, they’ll be somewhat angered by Rummenigge’s comments on Manchester City.
