Arsenal to bid A?25m for AS Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia

Having won the FA Cup, Arsene Wenger can now turn his attention on bringing new faces to the club. Over the past two seasons, Wenger has shown that he is not afraid to spend big if the right player is made available, i.e. Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid and Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona.

This summer, the top priority for Wenger will be to bring in a quality defensive midfielder who can provide cover for Francis Coquelin, and a world class goalkeeper. Morgan Schneiderlin is one such player who has attracted Arsenal’s attention for a long time, but according to recent reports, AS Monaco central midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia is now close to joining Arsenal.

Kondogbia caught Wenger’s eye during Arsenal’s Champions League match against AS Monaco, where he was quite impressive. Though Kondogbia’s lack of experience in Premier League might work against him but the fact that he is younger than Schneiderlin is a huge positive.

Schneiderlin is looking more likely to join Manchester United . , hence Wenger is aparently weighing up his other options. Kondogbia isn’t short of admirers with Inter Milan already in contact with his agent. He is powerful box-to-box midfielder something which will certainly interest Wenger. The midfielder who has three caps for the french national team to his name is tipped to be the next big thing in Europe.
