Arsenal In Discussion With Roma For Mattia Destro

Arsenal have taken a step ahead in their pursuit of Roma striker Mattia Destro as the club representatives are scheduled to meet the agent of the player tonight.

Arsenal have sent Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo out on loan for remainder of the season and they both are unlikely to remain at the club for the next season either. Arsene Wenger is now looking for a quality striker in the market and Mattia Destro has caught the attention of the Frenchman.

Roma legend Francesco Totti is in such a good form this season that coach Rudi Garcia continues to put his trust in the 38 year old while Gervinho also remains the undisputed starter for the capital club. This has put Mattia Destro in quite a difficult situation as he is not getting enough playing time at the club.

The 23 year old striker is so frustrated with his current situation at AS Roma that he wants to leave the club in January itself. Host of other clubs from Italy and Europe clubs, including AC Milan, Torino, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, are vying for his signature.

Arsenal are aware of this ongoing tussle for the signature of Mattia Destro and to beat the competition, the Gunners management is going to open the talks with the agent of the player tonight itself.

Meanwhile, reports coming from Italy and England have also confirmed the news of negotiations between Arsenal and Mattia Destro.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport is running the story that Mattia Destroa s representative Claudio Vigorelli will meet with Arsenal in London today. The Gunners are believed to be in the market for a striker after allowing forwards Lukas Podolksi and Yaya Sanogo to leave in this transfer window.

Arsenal have become over dependant on Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez after the departure of Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo and Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign another striker in winter transfer window itself. Arsenal authorities believe that an offer in the region of 20-22 million euros would be enough to lure Mattia Destro away from AS Roma.
