Arsenala s Arsene Wenger said that Danny Welbeck has a good future at the club and that he was an exceptional player.

a Hea s very important and has played many, many games since the start of the season,a the manager said. a I think hea s played in nearly every single game. His position is one of the three up front – central, left or right. He can play anywhere.

a Hea s one of the players who has played the most games for us, but not in the last couple of games. You have moments in the season where some players play a bit less.

a Most of the time ita s up front because not every single player can play every game in the biggest part of the season. You have a player like Olivier Giroud who is playing at the moment but he missed four months. During that period Welbeck played every single game.

a He plays very well for me and is an exceptional player who will have a great future here. I am very, very happy that I bought him.a

Arsene also touched on the criticism that Van Gaal is facing from the media.

a Today ita s like that. The rule is everyday you have to criticise somebody or you dona t sleep well overnight. Because we are in a public job, we have to accept that.a

a You adapt first to your club, to your team, and after that the players who play for you are used to playing in the league. Ita s less a problem of adapting to the league ita s more an adaptation to the style of play, to the quality of the players. Ita s important you know well the players you have and I believe as well that Man United are in a construction because they got many new players this year. When I arrived here, I had a stable team who was used to playing in the Premier League. I dona t look too much at Man United – I look at my club, what we want to achieve and how I could achieve it. I leave [comments on Man United] to other people.a

Arsene also talked about having strength and depth in the squad

a We come down to that problem yes, that people always raise these kind of questions when you do not have enough players. I would just like to say that we have chosen a job where competition is part of our job. That means we cana t complain about that, because we have made that choice. I never understand completely this kind of question, because ita s part of our job. Our job is to serve the club and to compete with other people to do as well as we can to serve the club. The only important thing is what the club achieves. After, all of us are only here for that.a
