Angel Di Maria Successfully Completes Paris Saint-Germain Medical Ahead Of Move

Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria completed his medical in Doha earlier today, ahead of a proposed A?44 million move to big-spending Paris Saint-Germain.

The 27-year-old was signed by Manchester United for a British record fee of A?59.7 million last August. However, the Argentine international never settled into life at Old Trafford. Di Maria struggled with form and fitness last season and was eventually dropped by the Red Devils’ manager Louis van Gaal.

Di Maria underwent his medical at the Aspetar hospital in Doha

Reports suggest that the Argentine was too tired when he arrived in Doha following his 20-hour long flight from Argentina and was thus unable to undergo the medical yesterday. The 27-year-old underwent a complete medical assessment at the Aspetar hospital under the supervision of Paris Saint-Germain doctor Eric Rolland.

Di Maria had failed to report to the Manchester United squad on their pre-season tour of the United States. This was after he was given extended holidays by the club following his participation in the Copa America, where Argentina lost in the finals to Chile.

Di Maria joins Juan Sebastian Veron as another expensive Argentine flop

The 27-year-old becomes the second Argentine after Juan Sebastian Veron to have arrived at Old Trafford with a massive reputation and an even bigger transfer fee. However, just like his predecessor, he failed to adapt to the physicality and pace of the English league, and the Red Devils’ faithful will remember the two to be very expensive flops.

Manchester United are reportedly already in negotiations with FC Barcelona for the transfer of Pedro, who is believed to be a replacement for the departing Argentine. The Red Devils have had a relatively strong transfer window so far, strengthening their side with no less than five first-teamers including Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.
