Angel Di Maria Reveals Rows With Van Gaal As Reason For Manchester United Exit

Former Manchester Untied winger Angel Di Maria has claimed his rows with manager Louis van Gaal and the struggles to comprehend his philosophy was the reason for his exit to PSG.

Manchester United signed the former Real Madrid man for a fee of 59.7m GBP in summer of 2014, only to sell him to PSG for 44.3m GBP after a season of hit and misses in terms of performances.

The move by the new PSG star did not go down well with Manchester United faithful, who blamed him for unprofessional behaviour when he missed the pre-season flight to United’s tour to the USA.

van Gaal to blame for his exit, as per Di Maria

However, opening up about the reason for his exit from Manchester to the French capital, Di Maria said that van Gaal was unable to build a relationship with him. He also said that van Gaal’s inability to get the best out of him, by changing his position, was another factor he decided to leave Manchester United.

“Van Gaal has his philosophy and one of the things that made me want to leave is that,” Di Maria was qouted saying by the Daily Mail. “It is difficult to adapt to Van Gaal. I had a couple of rows with him.

.

“I started well [at United] and after that I got injured. Things didn’t go well for me and Van Gaal changed my position. I spoke with [Laurent] Blanc and his thinking was that I’d play in a similar position to where I did at Real Madrid.”

Di Maria happy at PSG

Di Maria made a wonderful start with his new club on Sunday. The Argentine winger produced a superb assist for fellow countryman Ezequiel Lavezzi as PSG routed Monaco with a 3-0 win.

“I didn’t imagine a reception like this,” Di Maria said. “It was the most beautiful presentation I have ever had. The truth is that I’m happy to come to PSG and to have teammates like Lavezzi and [Javier] Pastore.”
