Having lost his place to new signing Joe Gomez for the left-back slot in Liverpool FC’s starting XI against Stoke, Alberto Moreno has vowed to fight for his place.
Moreno was signed by Liverpool FC from Sevilla for a fee of around 12 million GBP after winning the Europa League.
The youngster had an indifferent first season with his defensive lapses costing the club goals in matches against Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United.
Having signed defender Joe Gomez, 18, from Charlton in the summer, Brendan Rodgers decided to drop the Spaniard from the starting XI following strong performances from Gomez in the pre-season.
Moreno vows to fight for his place
Having lost his place to the English teenager, Moreno has vowed to fight for his place in the starting XI.

The 23-year-old, speaking to Spanish publication Marca, was quoted saying:
a I would like to become the starting [left-back], playing the maximum possible games and for the people of Liverpool to enjoy me. Our goal is to enter the top four, to return to play in the Champions League, and lift a trophy.
a Liverpool has [gone] long without winning anything, from 2011/12, and that is our dream. The people deserve it. We are a young team, good players have joined and if the team [plays] well together, we can achieve beautiful things.
a The Scousers want to win everything. It is very difficult because Chelsea, City, United and Arsenal have more [money], but we do not give up anything.a
“The first year was difficult”
Coming from Spain, at a young age of 22 can be difficult for any defender to settle into the physical league that the Premier League is. And Moreno admitted that he did find it difficult, initially.
a The first year was difficult because of the language issue and the change of [culture], but I played 41 games, which is fine for my age and for a club of the stature Liverpool.
a Upon arrival I realized how great this team is,a Moreno said.
Moreno backs Benteke and Ibe to take Reds to glory
Moreno picked out Christian Benteke and Jordon Ibe as the two players who can play a major role in Liverpoola s future success.

On Ibe, Moreno added: a Last season, despite being 19 years old we saw that he has qualities to be one of the best young players in Europe.a
Liverpool FC face Bournemouth at home on Monday night having won their opening clash against Stoke. With Joe Gomez putting in an assured display on the day, Moreno will have to exercise patience and wait for his chance.
