Arsenal have had a dream season so far. But with numerous important injuries, will the club’s manager spend money in the winter to help his club sustain this force, or will he depend on the attacking midfielders to carry on their fine form and get the goals for the side?
Arsenal have not landed any player in so far and do need another striker. As mouth-watering as the links to Julian Draxler are, perhaps it wouldnai??i??t be the worst move to get a back-up striker and get the talented attacking midfielder in the summer. Julian Draxler is a prodigy, to say the least, but he would add to the already prodigious enough Arsenal midfield and the on-the-money thing for Arsene to do would be to go for a striker, instead of another attacking midfielder.
Arsenal surely have had the dream season so far and Arsene Wengerai??i??s summer purchase of Mezut Ozil deserves most of the credit for that- not because he has singlehandedly got the Gunners the result, but because when he has arrived, the morale of the team got lifted to a sky-high level and the London club started performing like never before.
However, to keep that momentum up, the Frenchman has to make one or two winter purchases. Olivier Giroud shouldnai??i??t be the only striker who is required to poach goals for the club. With Walcott, Arsenal could have got at least 10 goals in the remainder of the season. But with him out injured, and Bendtner out as well, the club doesnai??i??t have many options. Lukas Podolski is back in the side, but that might not be a big consolation for the club.
Manager Arsene Wenger has admitted to the fact that he does want another forward to join his club:
“Ideally if it’s possible we’d like another [forward]. Ai??I give you my phone number, if you find an exceptional [player], you can call me. Ideally, though we have not found anyone.Ai??We are open to strengthening our squad if it’s possible, but as well we have Bendtner back in the squad on Monday. Sanogo is back in the squad on Monday week”.
The club needs a striker and the player need not be the most talismanic player. Ai??Just a simple poacher who can be the striker the club requires; someone who can share the burden of goals with Giroud. The links to Dimitar Berbatov for 2 million pounds were appearing at the start of the window. However, so far, nothing much has followed up and hence they have pretty much disappeared. But acquiring the Bulgarian could be Wengerai??i??s masterstroke. The biggest plus point Berbatov offers is that he has enough experience in the Premier League to know exactly how to go about business. The fact that he has been part of clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs also proves that he has the mentality to know the dynamics of a top side. The Fulham player has the credentials to live up to the expectations of playing for a top side and could be pivotal for Arsenalai??i??s season.
