Liverpool FC face league leaders Chelsea on Saturday and would be looking for revenge for their defeat in this fixture back in April, which was a turning point in Liverpool’s title surge.
“It’s obviously a big game,” he said in his pre-match press conference.
“In the game last season, we didn’t get the result and we performed well for 70 minutes, but we just couldn’t get the breakthrough.Ai??We’ll have learned from that. This is a new challenge and obviously it will be a very difficult game for us. Ai??They are unbeaten and the strongest team at the moment in the league – that’s why they’re top. Gerrard’s slip which resulted in Chelsea’s opening goal scored by Demba Ba was targeted as the moment that cost Liverpool the title. Rodgers hailed his team’s captain and said that the player should be lauded for returning from such an incident.

Rodgers said that Chelsea are even stronger than they were last season.

Rodgers said that his team would look to exploit any potential weaknesses in Chelsea’s set up.
“You always analyse the opponent and see the areas where you can have some joy,” he said.
“Defensively, they are strong and play a lot of the game on the counter-attack… Today we have done some work on that and tomorrow we will refine our tactics. And hopefully, it can be a game that can kick start things for us.”
