Colombian star James Rodriguez has completed his move from Monaco to Real Madrid, the Spanish club has confirmed.
After weeks of speculations James Rodriguez has completed his medical and signed a six-year contract with Real Madrid. The transfer fee involved in this deal is believed to be A?63m, with Diego Lopez rejecting the opportunity to sign for the French club.
James Rodriguez grabbed the limelight the World Cup in Brazil as his heroics have took Colombia to the quarter-final of the tournament for the first time in their history. The 23-year-old announced his arrival on the big stage with a goal against Greece in their opening game of the World Cup and ended the tournament with six goals (along with two assists) in five appearances.
Rodriguez, who won the Golden Boot award and featured in the World Cup All-Star team, gained a lot of attention and reports suggest that a host of European clubs are monitoring him.
Rodriguez joined cash-rich Monaco last year in a big money move from Porto and ended the Ligue 1 season with nine goals and 12 assists in 30 starts. Initial reports suggested that both Real Madrid and Barcelona were considering a move for the midfielder but Rodriguez revealed his desire to play for Los Blancos.
