Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has dismissed rumours suggesting Colombian duo Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez could be on their way to Real Madrid.
James Rodriguez has grabbed all the headlines recently with his performances in the World Cup for Colombia and recent report suggest that the Monaco midfielder, along with Radamel Falcao, is likely to join Real Madrid in the summer. But the French club has now rebuffed these claims and insisted that no negotiations has taken place regarding the two players.
James Rodriguez has grabbed the limelight in the ongoing World Cup in Brazil as his heroics have taken Colombia to the quarter-final after their recent win over Uruguay. The 22-year-old announced his arrival on the big stage with a goal against Greece in their opening game and has since then scored five goals (along with two assists) so far. He scored a brace against Uruguay in the round of 16 clash, which included a magical volley.
At the start of the tournament, there were questions marks about how Jose Pekermanai??i??s side will deal with the loss of their star striker Radamel Falcao, but Rodriguez has stepped up to fill his shoes with ease and they will head into their clash against Brazil with a lot of confidence.
Performing at the biggest stage of all has awarded him with a lot of attention and reports suggest that a host of European clubs are monitoring him at the World Cup.
Rodriguez joined cash-rich Monaco last year in a big money move from Porto and ended the Ligue 1 season with nine goals and 12 assists in 30 starts. His current contract with the French club runs till 2018 and it will take a massive amount of transfer to convince Monaco into selling the youngster.
Reports from Spain suggested that both Real Madrid and Barcelona are considering a move for the midfielder, and they are two of the few clubs who can afford such a big transfer fee. Rodriguez for his part revealed his desire to play in the La Liga and insisted that he will prefer a move to Real Madrid over Barcelona.

But Vadim Vasilyev believes that Rodriguezai??i??s performances in Brasil only proves that Monaco were right in their valuation of the player and remains confident that he will have a long and successful career with the French club.
“Everyone was surprised at the large sum we spent last year and now everyone is talking about him.Ai??That means that we were right.
“We strongly believe in this player, it is very important to us, he still has four years on his contract and we will do many great things together ” ai??i?? The Monaco vice-president said in an interview.
Radamel Falcao, who has been a transfer target for Real Madrid since his Atletico Madrid days, has also been linked with a move to the Spanish capital. The Colombian internationalai??i??s season was cut short due to a knee injury, which also meant that he missed the flight to the World Cup. But Falcao has been recovering well and is expected to be fit before the start of the next season.
Vasilyev has dismissed rumours that Falcao is about to join Real Madrid, but hasnai??i??t ruled out the possibility of the move completely.
“There are no negotiations with any club for Falcao.
“We have not talked about that. We count on him and believe he will have a great season in 2014-2015.
