Tottenham Hotspur have sacked Tim Sherwood and now Mauricio Pochettino and Frank de Boer are reportedly the favourites to succeed him.
Tim Sherwood took over as the manager of the club after the departure of Andre Villas Boas in December last year, after signing a 18-month contract. But the former Tottenham midfielder failed to turn around the fortunes of the club in the second half of the season as they finished sixth in the Premier League ai??i?? 17 point behind eventual champions Manchester City. They were also knocked out of the Europa League at the hands of Benfica and Sherwoodai??i??s future at the club remained under constant speculations. The Englishman also publicly criticized the players and questioned the clubai??i??s decision to sell Gareth Bale.
Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed the dismissal of Sherwood from the job with Chairman Daniel Levy thanking him for his service to the club.
“We appointed Tim mid-season as someone who knew both the players and the club.
“We agreed an 18-month contract with a break clause at the end of the season and we have now exercised that option.
“Since appointing Tim as assistant first team coach in 2008 and then as technical co-ordinator in 2010 and head of football development in 2012, we have been supportive of him during football management changes throughout that period.
“On behalf of the club, I should like to state our thanks for all his efforts during his years with us. We wish him great success in his managerial career.
“Moving forward, now the season is over, we shall embark on the process of finding a new head coach. We have a talented squad and exciting young players coming through.

Reports suggest that Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax manager Frank de Boer are the favourites to succeed Sherwood at the helm. Head of football trading at Sky bet, Paul Wiggins said that also de Boer, who has now won four Eredivisie title on the bounce with Ajax, was initially the favourite to land this job, but recent developments has put Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino on the driving seat. He also reveals that Tim Sherwood is now expected to take over at West Bromwich Albion after Pepe Mel was removed from the job at the midlands club.
“It was almost inevitable that Sherwood would leave, so much so that we already had a market open on the potential vacancy.
“De Boer was the initial favourite but Pochettino has been gaining support over the past few days as it looks likely that he’ll lose his key players at Southampton.
