Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has revealed that he was forced out of the club by new manager Louis Van Gaal, stating clearly that Ryan Giggs wanted him to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.
Following David Moyesai??i?? sacking last season, Ryan Giggs took over as the interim manager at Manchester United and had to deal with those players whose contracts were coming to an end. Rio Ferdinand revealed that his former team-mate wanted him to sing a new contract with the Red Devils. But the decision was vetoed by the new manager, Louis Van Gaal, and Rio Ferdinand was ultimately asked to leave the club after a spell of 12 years. The 35 year old defender spoke about his old club and admitted that he was looking forward to facing his former club. When asked who he was looking forward to facing in the coming season, Ferdinand admitted that he was eager to face his former team-mates.
“It’s a bit of a silly question isn’t it! I was there for the most part of my career, so obviously I’ll be looking for that fixture [against United] straight away.”
Meanwhile Juan Mata has come out in support of Louis Van Gaal and believes that the Dutchman has brought a ai???strong mentalityai??i?? at the club, which will eventually lay the foundation for future success at the club.
