Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero has rejected claims that he has turned down an offer from Manchester United in the summer.
Sergio Romeroai??i??s future came under immense speculation this summer with a host of European clubs being linked with a move for him. Benfica and Liverpool were initially monitoring him as a potential option, but it was Manchester United who emerged as the frontrunners on the deadline day of the transfer window. Reports suggested that Romero turned down a move to United, but the Argentine international has rebuffed these claims stating he there was no conclusive option for him.
Romero joined Sampdoria in 2011 from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar and have made 61 appearances in the league so far for the Italian club. Last season Romero was signed by Monaco on loan, but the French club refused to activate the ai???Option to buyai??i?? clause at the end of the season. Romero gained a lot of attention for his performances in the World Cup with Argentina as the South American nation reached the final of the tournament. The 27-year-old was the hero in the penalty shootout against Netherlands in the Semi-final and was shortlisted for the Golden glove award.
