Most of today’s papers report thatAi??Manchester United’s board will continue to back beleaguered managerAi??David Moyes, but the Daily Telegraph claims his future is still in doubt because of a player revolt.
The paper reports that squad misgivings over the managerai??i??s tactical approach and training methods are threatening to undermine the ongoing backing from the clubai??i??s owners. Telegraph Sport has reported that it is “aware of the concern of squad members over the inability of the manager to arrest the slump”, although no players are mentioned by name.
With United now having endured eight defeats in 17 games in 2014, the patience shown by the majority of Moyesai??i??s players with his tactics and approach to the job is now at breaking point. And despiteAi??Manchester CityAi??inflicting on United a third humiliating defeat in the space of a month after a 2-0Ai??Champions LeagueAi??humbling against Olympiakos in Athens and the 3-0 defeat againstAi??LiverpoolAi??at Old Trafford 11 days ago, senior figures at the club remained unmoved on Wednesday in their support for the 50-year-old.
However, it is no secret that Moyes’ training methods are different to his predecessor and it would be unreasonable to expect everyone to agree with them, most players having become accustomed to training under Alex Ferguson for so long. But there are concerns over recent results and Moyesai??i??s inability to halt a slide which has left United struggling even to qualify for theAi??Europa League.
Since his appointment in July, the Scot has faced criticism from both internal and external sources regarding his ‘involved’ training sessions.
