Liverpool linked with Marseille’s prolific Andre-Pierre Gignac
Seems like Arsenal and Liverpool are targetting a lot of similar names. Latest to join the list is Frenchman Andre-Pierre Gignac. However, the Marseille man is also a wanted player with Inter Milan and Dynamo Moscow also interested to land the player in January.
Gignac has been in terrific form for Marseille this season, and has been a key part in the Phoceens leading the Ligue 1 table, having scored 10 goals in 13 appearances so far.
As much as Marseille would want to hold on to the striker, Gignac’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the management has conceded defeat in getting the player to sign an extension as they don’t expect the player to lower his wage demands.Ai??European clubs are likely to take advantage of this situation and expectedly a swarm of names have been reported to be the 28 year old’s next destination.
While interest from Premier League clubs must tempt the 28 year old, reports in France suggest that Gignac could instead choose to follow former teammate Mathieu Valbuena to Russia if the money is right.
Gignac won’t be available for peanuts, even if his contract is running down. He is probably in the peak of his career and is regularly scoring for his club. His good form earned him a call up to France’s national squad along with teammate Dimitri Payet.

This is a striker with a relatively atypical profile, responsive to the physical challenge, the archetypal player who can succeed at a big club.Ai??He can play in England, Arsenal or Liverpool, no problem.
