Reports have been doing rounds of Liverpool‘s interest in PSG and Argentina attacker Esequiel Lavezzi.
The Reds have been extremely busy in the market so far and have already signed six players and are set to sign two more this week (Javier Manquillo and Alberto Moreno).
However, Brendan Rodgers still intends on ‘strengthening a few more areas’ and the Reds visibility need another attacker- especially because of the fact that the side needs enough depth to compete in four competitions, make a good return to the Champions League as well as make another title challenge. Moreover, given that the Loic Remy deal fell off at the last moment due to alleged medical reasons and that Fabio Borini talks have been reopened with Sunderland, after it was reported that Gus Poyet was adamant about signing the Italian permanently, Liverpool could only have two strike options for next season- Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert- which would obviously be a worry for the club. It seems that the Northern Irish manager is targeting PSG star Esequiel Lavezzi to further add to his side. PSG remain keen to offload Lavezzi to help fund a move for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria. Liverpool do however, face competition from Juventus and AC Milan for the player’s signature.
Lavezzi can play anywhere in the attack- as a forward or on the wings. A player reputed to be extremely hardworking, he tends to impress spectators with his pace and dribbling. He stillAi??has two years left in his current contract with the Parisian side. He moved to the French club in 2012, after a five year stint with Serie A side Napoli.
The 29 year old scored 12 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions last season, and helped his side lift the French League Cup as well as defend their league title. He also helped his side reach the finals in the recently concluded World Cup though the South Americans went on to lose the game 1-0.
Chelsea and Arsenal were both interested in the player as well, though the rumors of a possible move for the attacker have cooled off in the past few weeks.
