Jordan Henderson is the latest England player to be injured as the midfielder limped out of the training session ahead of his country’s match against Switzerland.
England have suffered another injury setback before they start the their Euro 2016 qualifiers against their toughest opponents in the group, Switzerland, as Jordan Henderson limped out of the teamai??i??s training session at St Jakob Park.
The 24 year old appeared to go over heavily on his ankle, and left the session immediately to undergo treatment from England’s medical staff.
What was relieving was the fact that the ex-Sunderland player was able to walk from the field unaided. He is still a major doubt for Monday night’s European Championships qualifier with Switzerland in Basel. Fabian Delph and James Milner are on standby to replace him.Ai??The Manchester City player appears the likeliest candidate to occupy the central role if required, in favour of the inexperienced Fabian Delph.
This comes as a blow to both England and Liverpool. The Three Lions are already under heavy criticism after the dismal World Cup and the recent 1-0 lackluster win over lowly Norway. He has started all the games for Liverpool so far and already has two assists to his name. The Merseyside club can replace him with Emre Can or the fit again Adam Lallana. Joe Allen would likely hold his place in the starting line-up if Henderson’s injury keeps him out for a long time. Interestingly,Ai??Henderson has never missed a game through injury for Liverpool.
