Arsenal FC went back to the top of the table as goals from Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere provided them with all three points against Aston Villa.
With Chelsea and Manchester City winning their games on Saturday and Sunday respectively, there was a lot of pressure on Arsenal to perform against Aston Villa, a team who beat them in the opening game of the season. But the Gunners delivered a good first half performance and went back to the top of the table with this win. They are currently on a five match winning streak in all competitions and will look to maintain this run as they face another London club, Fulham, at the Emirates in their next game.
Aston Villa on the other hand remained at 11th spot in the table, but are currently separated by just 5 points from the relegation zone. Goal scoring has been a big concern in recent games, so Bentekeai??i??s goal in this match could turn out to be a positive from this game. Villa have now lost six of their last eight matches and their task wonai??i??t get any easier next week as they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool.
The away side started the match brightly and controlled the game and ball possession. Aston Villa changed to a 3-5-2 formation for this game, but couldnai??i??t prevent Arsenal from dominating the midfield. Eventually Jack Wilshere provided them with the lead after wonderful move. Mesut Ozil lovely pass in behind the Villa defence, set Monreal free and the left back picked out Jack Wilshere at the edge of the box. The England international produced a wonderful first touch and put it past Guzan with a well-placed shot. The second goal arrived just few seconds later for Arsenal as Delph lost possession from the restart and Jack Wilshere picked out Giroud with a lovely lofted pass. The Frenchman controlled it with his first touch and got a bit lucky with his second and then put the ball into the back of the net with his third.
With a two goals advantage it looked like Arsenal were in cruise control of the game, but they became a bit complacent in the second half and allowed Villa back into the game. Christian Benteke pulled one back for the home side as he scored his first goal in four months. The goal was created from a world class cross by Matthew Lowton on the right as Benteke turned it home from close range. But Villa failed to create too many good opening after that goal and the match ended 1-2 in favour of the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger refused to be get carried away with their place at the top of the table and insisted that the Gunners need to concentrate on their performances in each game and the rest can take care of itself.

“Then, you have to go forward always and get points, and see if you can make a difference with other teams.” ai??i?? The Arsenal manager said.
Wenger was delighted with the result and insisted that the team needed to show a lot of resilience in the second half to get the win.
“In the first half, we were more about playing, and the second half we were more about fighting.
“We got the answer, even if maybe we had some dangerous situations in front of goal. They made it very physical, put the ball high up in the air and played with three through the middle.
“We needed a very good, resilient performance in the second half.” ai??i?? Wenger added.
Arsenal also welcomed back Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, who made a small appearance in the second half and Wenger is delighted to have him back considering how stretched the squad is at the moment due to injuries.
