An attacking NorthEast United contingent which even though lacked Koke and Joan Capdevila, held Delhi Dynamos to a goalless draw. Although, the Dynamos had a poor first half, they improvised and played an second half, which was as attacking as the Highlander’s approach in the first half.
Steven Dias, who was in the heat of the action, in Delhi’s last match, had a poor outing as per his high standards.
“It was a tough match. It is always tough when you play against a team who sit 2nd in the league. We missed our chances if we would have converted those chances, I guess we would have won the match, likewise even they (NorthEast United) missed theirs, and luckily we got a point” said the 30 year old winger, who plies his trade for Churchill Brothers in the I-League
Dias, who was superb in his first home appearance against Chennaiyin FC, whilst delivering brilliant balls in for Junker to capitalize upon, was marked by either Tomas Josl or Robin Gurung, throughout the game.
“I think that even they saw our last match against Chennaiyin FC and they had their own strategy. After this match, we will go back and the coach will see what our mistakes are, and probably we will come up with our strategy and perform in our next match” Steven added.
A stern physical test await Dias, as he is most likely to start against FC Goa on the 1st of November.
“It is very tough, you know the body does not fully recover. We are doing ice bath and all, but still it is tough” commented Dias
