Arsenal FC forward Lukas Podolski has insisted that he didnai??i??t receive any offer from other clubs to the leave the Emirates this summer.
Lukas Podolskiai??i??s future came under increased speculation this summer as the German international was linked with a host of European clubs. But the forward was retained by Arsenal and Podolski has now insisted that he didnai??i??t receive any offer to leave the club, despite several enquiries.
Podolski arrived from Koln in 2012 and made 33 appearances in his first season at the Emirates. But the German internationalai??i??s had limited first team opportunities last season as he made only 14 starts in the league. He struggled a bit with his fitness at the start of last season, but he did produce some important performances in the second half of the season. The German international ended with 12 goals in 27 appearances and was selected in the German World Cup squad, although he made only two appearances in the cup winning run of the team.
Following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez and the rise of Joel Campbell, Lukas Podolski is unlikely to get too many starts this season, especially in the Premier League. The 29-year-old was keen to extend this stay at the Emirates, but reports suggested that the Arsenal forward is being monitored by a host of clubs across Europe.
Monaco and Borussia Dortmund were initially linked with a move for the former Bayern Munich forward, but reports in Turkish media suggested that Galatasaray were keen on signing Podolski on loan this summer. Italian champion Juventus were later added to the list of his suitors as well.
But following injury to Olivier Giroud, Arsene Wenger wasnai??i??t keen to offload the German international as he can be used as a striker if the need arises. Podolski, who was allowed an extended break at the start of this season along with other German players in the squad, made his first appearance of the season against Leicester as he came on as a substitute. Wenger believes that Podolski might yet have a role to play at the club this season
Podolski has rebuffed claims that a move failed to materialize during the transfer window as he insisted to have never received any offer, despite all the interest. He is delighted that Wenger has maintained his faith in his ability and is looking forward to fight his way into the starting line-up.
