Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is unhappy with the dismissal of Bastian Schweinsteiger in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash against Manchester United.
Despite pre-match predictions of a one sided affair in the clash between Manchester United and Bayern Munich last night, the English club gave the reigning European champions a run for their money and produced a spirit performance to hold them to a draw. Only if Danny Welbeck had taken his chance in the first half, it would have been perfect evening for Manchester United.
Things got worse for Bayern Munich as Javi Martinez received another yellow card, which means he will miss the second leg at home, while Bastian Schweinsteiger, who scored the equalizer for Bayern Munich, received his marching order for his second bookable offense. The German international slid in to win the ball off Wayne Rooney, but the Manchester United forwardai??i??s exaggerated fall fooled the referee into awarding Schweinsteiger his second yellow card of the game. It was a harsh decision, especially when the referee didnai??i??t do the same to Antonio Valencia for a similar challenge in the second half. This has created a shortage of midfielders for Pep Guardiola as Thiago Alcantara remains injured as well, and could be a big blow for them.
Pep Guardiola said that he didnai??i??t agree with the decision of the referee, although he accepts it and insists his side must overcome all odds if they want to retain their Champions League crown.

When asked about whether he felt that Wayne Rooney dived during the incident, Guardiola said: “I didn’t see, but I spoke to the referee.
“He is a very good referee. He made a very, very good game, but it is unfair.
“But it is okay. To win the Champions League you have to solve and overcome everything. In football this kind of thing happens.”
Guardiola was overall pleased with the outcome and the important away goal that they managed to grab in the second half.
“The result is 1-1 so we scored away, so this is good. I am happy for our performance, 70 per cent possession, 15 attempts.
“It is not easy to create the chances but we created quite enough.
“We were reacting after going 1-0 down. It is not an exceptional result but it is good enough considering how good Manchester United are.” ai??i?? He said.
David Moyes was also delighted with his sideai??i??s performance on the night, although he did regret conceding the goal and Welbeckai??i??s miss in the first half. But Moyes believes that this result has provided them with a wonderful opportunity in the second leg.
