Bayern Munich has secured the signing of Spain’s rising star Juan Bernat in a 5-year deal. Versatile left winger moved to Germany as a free agent at the end of his Valencia contract.
21-year-old Juan Bernat, a product of Valencia’s youth academy, has progressed through the Spain’s U-16, U-17, U-19, U-20 and U-21 squads before making his mark in the Valencia set-up. The versatile left footed player is capable of playing as a left back or as a left winger. Juan Bernat made his La Liga debut in 2011-12 season and made 10 appearances for the Los Che’s that season. After another bit part season, Juan Bernat became an integral part of Valencia set-up in 2013-14 season.
Th Spanish youngster made a total of 49 appearances last season. He was one of the best performers for Valencia in a disappointing season, and his performances caught the attention of scouts world wide. It was last season that the left footed player showed his versatility by playing as a defender and winger at the top level.
Even though Valencia tried to extend his contract by offering improved terms, it wasn’t rewarding enough for his performances. German Bundelsiga champions Bayern Munich jumped at the opportunity sign a promising youngster and secured Juan Bernat’s signature in a 5-year deal.

Bayern Munich are expected to part ways with Switzerland winger Xherdan Shaqiri. The signing of Valencia youngster Juan Bernat is expected to speed up the exit of Shaqiri, who is coming after a good FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
