Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that striker Olivier Giroud may make an early return from injury. Giroud helped Arsenal recover a point against Everton in August but suffered a broken left tibia in the same game.
It was earlier reported that Giroud will take 4 months to recover from the injury and will return earliest in December. However, Arsene Wenger revealed that the French forward might recover sooner than expected and could partner Danny Welbeck in a new formation which will see both the strikers playing in the forward position.
“Olivier Giroud is recovering very well,” Wenger told beIN Sports.
“I believe he is ahead of schedule in terms of rehabilitation. The operation went perfectly.
“Welbeck and (Giroud) can play together in the centre or separately.”
The Arsenal manager also added that he may continue to play Giroud as a lone forward and Welbeck may have to shift to the wing. Welbeck played a majority of his time at Manchester United playing on the wing as he was overshadowed by forwards Rooney and Van Persie.
“Welbeck also played on one side to Manchester United. Welbeck played in the same team with Rooney and van Persie. He can play down the sides.”
Serge Gnabry has also returned to training for the Gunners, as the German has been out of action since March because of a knee problem.
Another big injury boost for Arsenal is that Theo Walcott has returned to training and completed a full training session for the first time in nine months since his long lay-off due to knee injury.

The England international has been out of action since January after he was stretchered off the pitch in an FA Cup tie at the White Hart Lane.
The winger is expected to be on the bench for Arsenal against Hull City on Saturday. Walcott was seen taking free-kicks, connecting with volleys and running at pace during Monday’s training session. It will be a delight for Arsenal supporters if Walcott is able to emulate the same against Hull City on Saturday.
The news comes as a relief for Arsene Wenger whose biggest concern lately has been the numerous injury lay-offs. Mesut Ai??zil, Diaby, Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud and Sanogo are all out of action and Wenger is left with very few choices when it comes to fielding his best 11.
Currently positioned 8th on the Premier League table, Arsenal entertain Hull City on Saturday before travelling to Belgium to face Anderlecht in the Champions League on Wednesday, 22 October.var
