ArsA?ne Wenger and Jack Wilshere agree that Arsenal must start matching performances with results.
The Gunners have drawn six of their first 13 matches in all competitions this season, and have found themselves behind at some stage in eight separate games.
The Gunners go into the Champions League Clash with a dissapointing 2-2 draw against Hul City in the weekend. Danny Welbeck scored in injury time to rescue a point for the North Londoners on afternoon where Wenger’s side dominated for large periods.
“Look, we have lost only one game in the Premier League but we have not enough points with what we produced,” the boss said. “Top level performance is to make the maximum with your potential and sometimes in games you need a fraction more.
“Thatai??i??s what we want to do – give a fraction more to be really efficient in what we do.”
“There is a difference between the quality of our performances and points we have won. So we want to add to the quality of our performance, and get the points that we feel are there in the team. That little percentage, where we can improve, is vital.”
Midfielder Jack Wilshere who has enjoyed an convincing start to the season is confident that results will improve for the Gunners.
“In big games this season, we have been so close,” he said. “In the Man City game, we were close to winning and then a lack of concentration [happens] and we draw the game.
“If we had won one of thoseai??i?? but we are confident we can do it. We played Tottenham at home as well and feel we should have won the game, we dominated possession.
“If we can just concentrate a little bit more defensively, then we are confident we can do that.”
Wengerai??i??s keeper crisis will be the key preoccupation tonight, with Martinez, replacing suspended Wojciech Szczesny, having conceded five goals in a Capital One Cup tie at Reading two years ago.
And Martinez will have a job to do after tonight as the clubai??i??s temporary No 2 keeper, with Wenger revealing Colombian David Ospina will be out until the New Year in yet another Arsenal injury setback.
Wenger said: ai???Ospina had his first injury at Nice (his former club), which was a knee problem, and I think he was a bit rushed back. He then got injured during the World Cup. And after that he came to us injured.
“I had to bring him on against Galatasaray without a warm-up, without being prepared, and he had a recurrence of that injury. That means he is out for two to three months. Now we have to be really careful because he has a recurrence of a thigh injury thatai??i??s very difficult.
