Arsenal FC striker Danny Welbeck, who moved to the Emirates from Manchester United this summer, is confident that the goals will flow for both club and country.
Danny Welbeck completed his much talked about move from Manchester United to rivals Arsenal on the deadline day for A?16Ai??million and the England international, who scored two goals for the Three Lions in their last game, is confident of finding the back of the net regularly for his new club and country.
Danny Welbeck has been at Manchester United since the age of eight, but the England international fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford. The arrival of Radamel Falcao on the deadline day also pushed him on the brink of move as he searched for regular first team action.
Welbeck has often been played out of position as a winger or wide forward for both United and England in the past and the 23-year-old has been craving for opportunities to play through the middle as a striker. Despite scoring only 29 goals in 142 appearances for Manchester United, Welbeck does have a good goal scoring record for England and once again showed glimpses of his ability as he scored a brace against Switzerland.
The forward is looking forward to finally playing in his preferred role of a striker for the Gunners and is confident of scoring goals regularly for his club and country when played through the middle.
“It is well known I prefer to play through the middle so when I get my opportunity I just want to show what I can do.
“Once I get into the box and get the opportunities I have got faith in my ability.
“Before I wasn’t getting into the box because I wasn’t playing too much as a striker and I had to worry about my defensive work.
“Listen, anyone can say what they want to say but I just know once I get the opportunity and a run of games up front I will do my best.
“That’s definitely what I need. It is good for any footballer to get a run of games.
“You become more confident and play much more at ease and to get a run of games would be absolutely perfect.
“That is my first 90 minutes this season so it is just the start of things and really looking forward to it.” ai??i?? The Arsenal striker said.
Welbeck is expected to feature from the start in his debut match for the Gunners as they take on Manchester City in a crunch Premier League fixture this Saturday.
