Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insists that Cristiano Ronaldo isnai??i??t injured, while Jurgen Klopp feels his side let themselves down both in defence and attack on the night.
Real Madrid are half way through to avenging their defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund in the semi-final stage of the competition last year as they took control of the tie with three goals. Gareth Bale opened the scoring for the home with a well worked goal down the right, while Isco doubled their lead in the 27th minute of the match with a well-placed shot at the bottom of the net. Borussia Dortmund did look dangerous on the counter-attacks at time, but they lacked the cutting edge upfront in the absence of Robert Lewandowski. Eventually Real Madrid scored their third with Cristiano Ronaldo getting his customary Champions League goal. It was Ronaldoai??i??s 14th goal in the Champions League this season as he equalled the record held by Lionel Messi and Jose Altafini of most number of Champions League goal in a single season.
Ronaldoai??i??s substitution in the 80th minute of the match, with what looked like an injury at that time, caused a lot of concerns in the stands, but Carlo Ancelotti confirmed after the game that the Portuguese international is not injured and that he was taken off only as precautionary measure due to a knock in his knee.
“He was bothered a bit by his knee, we needed to defend and to avoid any risks, we’ve substituted him. It’s not a problem. He isn’t injured.
“We’ll see how it goes. At this moment we’re not concerned by the niggle.

Ancelotti was delighted with his teamai??i??s performance and the win, although he feels that Dortmund can still cause them problems in the return leg.

We didn’t defend the way we wanted, we left too much room and weren’t as compact as I would have liked. But we also have to understand that we played one of the best teams in the world today.
