Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas Boas has dismissed rumours linking Spurs with a move for Porto striker Jackson Martinez, while Paulinho is set to arrive at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham Hotspur, along with Inter, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus, have been linked with the striker in the recent past. Spurs are in the market for a new striker as Adebayorai??i??s future at the club is in doubt. They have been linked with Brazilian forward Damiao, although negotiations havenai??i??t progressed as desired.
Martinez seemed like a good option for Spurs, although Portoai??i??s reputation in the transfer market means that they would have had to pay over the top in order to secure his service. But Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas has dismissed these rumours all together and said that they are not interested in the Columbian striker.
“We don’t want Jackson Martinez” ai??i?? The Tottenham Hotspur manager was quoted in press.
But the Portuguese man revealed that the London club are tracking another Brazilian, Bernard, although he claimed that the club is unlikely to make a move for him as well.
“Bernard’s a player that we monitor like many others, but I think Tottenham will do nothing regarding them.” – he added.
Paulinho close to joining Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed a A?17 million fee for Brazilian midfielder Paulinho with Corinthians. Spurs faced competition from Inter and Shakhtar Donetsk but their bid matched the release clause in his contract. The London club will pay A?15 million upfront with A?2 million as add-ons for the 24-year-old, who will join them after the confederations cup and is expected to sign a four-year contract. Although none of the club has officially announced the deal, Corinthians director of football, Edu, has earlier confirmed that negotiations are underway between the two clubs.
Paulinho will be a brilliant addition to the squad. He is a versatile midfielder, who plays in the role of a box-to-box midfielder. It will be interesting to see, whether he will be a regular started under Andre Villas Boas as Dembele plays in the same role.
