Tottenham Hotspur Manager likens Gareth Bale To Cristiano Ronaldo – Is It Too Early?

Gareth Baleai??i??s recent performance for Tottenham Hotspur has seen him being compared with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and Spursai??i?? boss Andre Villas-Boas has echoed similar thoughts.

Gareth Bale pulled off another virtuoso performance against Lyon last night to keep Tottenhamai??i??s hope of progressing in Europa League alive. The Welsh maestro scored two goals, either side of the half, from two wonderful free-kicks. His brace gave Spurs a slight lead going into the second leg as Lyon scored a crucial away goal through Samuel Umiti in the second half.

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Andre Villas-Boas was full of praise for Bale in his post-match interview. The Portuguese boss was particularly laudatory of Baleai??i??s ability for dead ball situations.

“He’s incredible. Not only his all-round game, but this ability that he has to strike these free-kicks. The ball gains so much power when he strikes it and it changes direction very easily. Today we saw not only two great moments but three, because their goal was absolutely fantastic too. Gareth was fantastic.” ai??i?? AVB was quoted in the press.

When was asked whether Bale is comparable to Ronaldo, Andre Villas-Boas consented.

Ai??”Yes [he is comparable to Ronaldo], he’s going through a great individual moment, scoring lots of goals for the team.

“I think it’s his best goalscoring season for Tottenham. You just see that the player is really enjoying his football and taking a buzz out of it.

“We’ve seen him score three in two games from this situation and there is that possibility, there is an expectation because the player strikes it well and anything can happen, most likely a goal is likely to happen.” ai??i?? AVB added.

His two goals last night means Gareth Bale has now scored six in his last four matches and nine in his last eight. While Bale is going through the best phase of his career and has almost single-handedly Ai??carried Tottenham on his shoulders, but it is too early to compare him to Ronaldo ai??i?? who has provided this kind of performances over a long period of time.
