Flamengo Reveals Interest In Roma Defender

Leandro Castan was signed from Brazilian club Corinthians at the start of last season for a fee of ai??i??5.5 million and he quickly established himself in the first team, making 30 appearances in the league alongside his defensive partners Marquinhos and Burdisso.

But according to latest reports Flamengo are interested in signing the 26-year-old as they look to bring back the defender to Brazil. Flamengo Football Director Paulo Pelaipe has confirmed the clubai??i??s interest in the former Atletico Mineiro player, although they are yet to make an official move for him.

“He is a great defender and we are evaluating his situation, but there are no actual negotiations for his signing at the moment.” ai??i?? Pelaipe was quoted in press.

With Roma looking to rebuild their squad after a fairly disappointing last season, it looks unlikely that Rudi Garcia would let go of Castan, unless they find an able replacement.

Antonio Cassano close to completing his switch from Inter to Parma

The future of Antonio Cassano has been up for speculations, after he has failed to impress in his first season with the Nerazzurri. The Italian international missed a large chunk of the season due to injury after his much talked about move from AC Milan back in 2012.

The Inter squad is expected to undergo massive changes after enduring a disappointing season last time around, where they finished lowly ninth. Andrea StramaccioniAi??has already been replaced by former Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri and he is expected to clear a lot of deadwood from the squad before bringing in new faces. Inter are reportedly close to signing French U-20 international Ishak Belfodil from Parma and Antonio Cassano is expected to be part of a swap deal. But it is initially believed that Cassano is unwilling to join the fellow Northern Italian club.

The 30-year-old is a subject of a transfer interest from Monaco and recent reports suggested that Giuseppe Bozzo, agent of Cassano, was recently in Monte Carlo to attend a discussion with the French club.

But Inter President Massimo Moratti has recently confirmed the clubai??i??s interest in Belfodil, and has also stated the possibility of Cassano leaving the Nerazzurri. Parma presidentAi??Tommaso Ghirardi has also insisted that they expect to complete the signing of the Italian forward by the end of this week in a recent interview. All that remained, it seemed, was for Cassano and his agent to negotiate personal terms with the Parma.

Giuseppe Bozzo, Cassanoai??i??s agent, has now confirmed the possibility of this move, but has also stated that they will hold talks with Inter this week to clarify the situation.

“Maybe in this week, we’llAi??speak with the club in order to understand what we have to do. Without us they cannot end the trade” ai??i?? Bozzo told the press.

Alberto Gilardino was one of the prime reasons why Bologna managed to stay away from the relegation battle last season and finished 13th in the league. The former AC Milan striker scored 13 goals in and turned out to be an important signing from Genoa for the Italian club. It is believed that Gilardino could be involved in a swap deal involving Marco Borriello, who scored 12 goals for Roma last season.
