Malaga midfielder Isco has blasted CAS from his twitter account after the court dismissed the Spanish clubai??i??s appeal to play in the Europa League next season.
Back in December, UEFA handed over a two-year ban from European competitions to Malaga in light of their financial irregularities and outstanding debts, later the governing body of European football reduced the ban to one year. But last week Malaga decided to appeal against this ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sports, so that they are allowed to participate in the Europa League next season having qualified for it after finishing sixth in the La Liga this season.
But Malagaai??i??s wish was not to be granted as CAS have announced their ruling in which they have dismissed the Andalusian clubai??i??s appeal.
“CAS has dismissed the appeal filed by Malaga against the decision taken on December 21, 2012 by the Adjudicatory Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body decision.
“As a consequence, the Spanish club is excluded from the UEFA Europa League 2013-14 and will have to pay a fine of 300,000 euros.” ai??i?? Read the statement released by the CAS.
The UEFA has come out in support of this decision and in a statement they have stated that the ai???next best-placedai??i?? team in the La Liga will replace them in the Europa League. The official statement read –
“UEFA is pleased that the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne today confirmed the decision of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) adjudicatory chamber regarding the requirement to comply with the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations in the case of Malaga CF.
“The Spanish club is therefore excluded from the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League and will be replaced by the next best-placed club in the Spanish domestic league, provided this club has been granted a licence and fulfils all the admission criteria. The fine of 300,000 euros imposed on Malaga CF is also confirmed.”
But CASai??i??s decision has certainly not gone down well with Malaga, and their start midfielder Isco took to twitter to vent his frustration. The 21-year-old midfielder pointed out that it is unfair on the supporters and the players to be denied of the opportunity to participate in the Europa league, something which they have ai???earned on the pitchai??i??.
“Shameful, lamentable, unfair that we’re looked at (Malaga fc) in a completely different way to other teams with much more irregularities and debt.
“Once again they take away what we’ve earned on the pitch! Neither the players or fans deserve this! I have nothing more to say.” ai??i?? The Malaga youngster tweeted from his account.
