Liverpool suffered a heavy blow in the first leg of their tie against Zenit in Russia, but the players are confident of pulling things back in the 2nd leg.
Liverpool are without a win in their last five matches in all competition, with their last victory coming against Norwich in the league back in January. This poor run of form has seen them being knocked out of the FA Cup at the hands of Oldham and fall behind in the race to qualify for Europe next season in the league.
The Reds are currently placed 9th in the league table following their loss at home to West Brom and now they are on the brink of elimination from the Europa League after suffering similar fate at the hands of Russian giants Zenit in the first leg of their tie.
It was poor performance from a Liverpool side which clearly lacked creativity upfront. Brendan Rodgersai??i?? side managed to have only two shots on target in the whole match and after conceding two goals in space of three minutes in the second half, Liverpool need something special to turn around their fortunes in this tie.
But Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is confident of delivering the goods in Anfield in the second leg. The midfielder has urged the fans to get behind their team during the return leg. “If anyone can pull it back, it’s us.
“We’ll have an advantage with our supporters. If they can create the noise they’re capable of, get behind the team and we can get an early goal, it’s game on.
“But we are disappointed. It wasn’t the result we wanted – we wanted an away goal and to try and sneak away with a clean sheet, but if you concede sloppy goals, you get punished and that’s what happened.

Liverpool are certainly not unaccustomed in making comebacks, they will have to look back at ai???thatai??i?? final against AC Milan for inspiration. In fact veteran defender Jamie Carragher is also taking heart from the ai???pastai??i?? and seemed confident of making a comeback in this fixture.
