Liverpool FC are interested in signing the Verona midfielder Jorginho. Will this transfer finally happen and will the acquisition benefit the Reds?
Liverpool is among the five clubs interested in signing Hellas Verona playmaker Jorginho in the winter. Chelsea, Arsenal, Fiorentina and Zenit St Petersburg are the clubs interested in roping the 22 year old next month. While the newly promoted Serie A club is obviously eager to keep the player who has helped the club be in sixth position in the table with seven goals, it is believed a aAi??A?8.5m bid could force the Italian club to consider selling him in the winter.
Zenit are the club which look the most likely to sign the player as they are willing to offer the young talent an annual salary ofAi??around A?1.1m.
Jorginho’s departure looks imminent and Verona manager Andrea Mandorlini toldAi??Radio Anch’io:
I know, only too well, that it will be hard to keep the likes of Jorginho.
Despite being an all-round midfielder, Jorginho advances in the front and supplies the forwards with good through balls and assists the making of the goal. His distribution is accurate and admirable.
TheAi??Brazilian confirmed the interestAi??of Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea a while back when heAi??told Gazzetta dello Sport:

Liverpool were interested in acquiring his services even in the summer and came close to roping in the Brazilian after missing out on present Dortmund player Henrikh Mkhtiyarin. Rodgers is still considering a move for the 22 year old as he feels that the player will fit the bills at Anfield and adapt to the Liverpool playing style with ease.
Why he is suitable for Liverpool
Jorginho can play anywhere in the midfield. He can play as a holding defensive player and a number of times, its not his goals that won him the plaudits, but his defensive services to the team. He can play as a central midfielder. Liverpool will benefit here because Jorginho has more mobility that Gerrard and a pairing of Gerrard and Jorginho will be absolutely brilliant. And of course, with seven goals to his name, the 22 year old is more than capable to play in the attacking midfielder’s role. He definitely possesses the creativity of a player in the number ten role. Jorginho is a hard working, mentally strong, determined and a clearly gifted player.Ai??He fits the mould that Liverpool are keen on having within their ranks and could go on to become a key component of the side.
THT Verdict: Not likely (at least in the winter)
While Liverpool may actually be the perfect destination for Jorginho, the likelihood of this transfer happening is very slim. With the resurgence of Jordan Henderson, who has performed exceptionally well in the last two or three games, Liverpool might focus on a player who has different things to offer than Henderson. Jorginho is a polished Henderson, as the two are equally versatile, can play anywhere on the pitch and give in their everything. The Brazilian is just already completely polished and his finishing is first class. But with the England international proving himself in the recent matches, Rodgers too might be a little sceptical about spending a good amount on another player with similar attributes.
