Former Manchester United, Real MadridAi??midfielder and England captain, David Beckham, has announced his retirement from professional football.
“I’m thankful to PSG for giving me the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level.
“If you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over 100 times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy,

“Nothing will ever completely replace playing the game I love. However, I feel like I’m starting a new adventure and I’m genuinely excited about what lies ahead.

The Englishman started out his senior footballing career at his boyhood club Manchester United back in 1993. He soon became an important part of that famous United squad under Sir Alex Ferguson, which won the treble in 1999. He won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and one Champions League during his 10 year stint at the club, before completing one of the most famous transfers in recent times to Real Madrid. But his four year stint at the Spanish club didnai??i??t bring in too many silverwares, expect for the La Liga title in the 2006-07 season.
David Beckham then decided to continue his career in MLS and signed for LA Galaxy. He also had two loan spells at AC Milan during this period. His latest move to PSG was somewhat surprising at that point in his career, but having said that, he did end the career on a high as the French club won the Ligue 1 title after a long period.
Despite the rise of Messi and Ronaldo, Beckham arguably remains the most famous and well known footballer in the world. He became the ultimate poster boy of world football from an early age.
