Real Madrid are said to receive a 42 million pound bid for their striker Karim Benzema next summer. Reports suggest that a Premier League club is believed to bid for the 25 year old Frenchman and prise him away from the Bernabeu. The interested club is thought to be either Chelsea or Arsenal, both of whom have in the past expressed their desire to sign Benzema.
Jose Mourinho, Madridai??i??s former manager looks favourite to land Benzema at Stamford Bridge, having managed the French striker at the Bernabeu. Despite Fernando Torresai??i??s fantastic performance against title rivals Manchester City on Sunday, Mourinho looks to be strengthening up his forward line which has not been firing on all cylinders recently. Benzema, who has scored 91 goals in 193 appearances for Los Blancos is understood to be looking for fresh pastures, as he increasingly falls out of favour with the Madridistas. Having scored just two goals in the last eight La Liga games, Benzema has suffered quite a bit of abuse from the Madrid fans who expect more from their starting forward. Real Madrid are understood to accept a bid in the region of 42 million pounds to get Benzema off their hands and could then move for a new striker themselves. Madrid are thought to have their eyes on Monacoai??i??s Radamel Falcao to spearhead their attack next season.
Another possible destination for Benzema is Arsenal. Arsene Wenger has become more adventurous in his spending and has been a long time admirer of his compatriot. Having spent a similar figure on Mesut Ozil in the summer, Wenger could get his cheque book out again to bag Benzema ahead of London rivals Chelsea in the summer. In order to beat off favourites Chelsea to sign their target, Wenger could also move for Benzema in January, but it looks unlikely since the striker would be cup tied in the Champions League. Wenger is pushing to add a striker to his team, given that Olivier Giroud is the only specialist out and out striker at his disposal. Benzema could also be lured to the Emirates if Wenger asks ex-Madrid man Ozil to nudge the striker in the right direction.
