Chelsea FC have officially announced the arrival of Jose Mourinho as their new manager.
But finally, it has been made official now. Jose Mourinho, the special one, has been appointed as the manager of the club on a four-year deal. He takes up the role after interim manager Rafa Benitez left the club at the end of this season (and was appointed the new manager of Napoli). Mourinhoai??i??s appointment was on the cards ever since Roberto Di Matteo was sacked by Roman Abramovich last season.
Jose Mourinho is taking over at Chelsea following a disappointing season with Real Madrid, where the Spanish club struggled both on and off the pitch. Real Madrid struggled to keep up with Barcelona in the domestic league and despite a good run in the Champions League, they were knocked out in the Semi-Final at the hands of Borussia Dortmund. The Spanish giants then failed to lift, what was their last hope for a silverware, the Copa del Rey as they lost to arch rivals Atletico Madrid in the final. But Madridai??i??s misery was not restricted to failures on the pitch, there were big problems in the dressing room as well, as Jose Mourinho reportedly faced opposition from a lot of senior players in the squad ai??i?? namely Casillas, Ramos and Pepe.
But Mourinhoai??i??s spell at Madrid would hardly mean anything to the jubilant Chelsea supporters. Not that this news comes as a big surprise, but the fact that it is official now, is a big cause for celebrations. Mourinhoai??i??s earlier stint at Chelsea, from 2004 to 2007, was perhaps the most successful and memorable three years in the clubai??i??s history. The Blues won two league titles, one FA cup and two league cups under his tutelage. Although Chelsea won the Champions League last season and the league and FA Cups after Mourinho left, the club lost some of its ruthlessness, that was so symbolic of them under the Portuguese manager.
Ron Gourlay, Chelseaai??i?? chief executive, confirmed the appointment of Mourinho at the helm of the club, in a statement a few hours back.

‘It is our aim to keep the club moving forward to achieve greater success in the future and Jose is our number one choice as we believe he is the right manager to do just that.

Mourinhoai??i??s return is not only a great news for the Chelsea fans, but it is sure to spice up the Premier League. Although sadly, we will no longer experience the epic mind games between Sir Alex and Jose Mourinho as the former has retired this season.
