Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger has rubbished claims that he is in contact with PSG regarding a switch in the summer.
The former AC Milan manager, who took over at the club back in 2011 as a part of an exciting new project under the new owners, has seen his team struggle in the early part of the season, when in reality they were expected to be more dominant in the domestic league after spending millions on the squad. But his unsure future is related to being linked with Real Madrid as a possible replacement for Jose Mourinho, if the Portuguese manager leaves the club in the summer.
French newspaper Le Parisien wrote that Carlo Ancelotti has already made a decision, and according to board members, the Italian coach decided to leave PSG end of the season. This report was published in the last week of April after a reported discussion between Ancelotti and President Nasser al-Khelaifi. The French media also suggested that 53-year-old is close to joining Real Madrid and also has an offer from Manchester City.
The above rumours meant that Arsene Wenger, PSG and Nasser al-Khelaifiai??i??s long term target, has been linked back with the job. The Frenchman was PSG first choice for the managerial role even before Ancelotti was appointed, but the cash rich club found it hard to lure away Wenger from his beloved Arsenal ai??i?? a club he has now served for 17 years. But the fact that Wengerai??i??s is yet to sign a contract extension has fuelled media speculation of him joining the club based in Paris.
The 63-year-old manager however has now dismissed media reports of him being in contact with PSG or their owners. The Frenchman has in fact thrown is support behind Carlo Ancelotti and has expressed his views on why he thinks that the Italian manager has done a ai???good jobai??i?? so far.
“I have had no contact with PSG. Carlo Ancelotti has done a good job and I do not see why he would leave the club by viewing the quality of his work this season.
“I followed their season. They have built their success on a form of individual superiority and the collective one that they found through the Champions League. In Ligue 1, they had a quite difficult journey.
“And for my part, I have a contract with Arsenal, where I have served for 17 years and I do not see myself leaving the club like a thief and not respecting my contract.” ai??i?? The Arsenal manager was quoted in press.
Arsene Wengerai??i??s current contract at the club runs till 2014 and he has refused to talk about his long term future with the club recently ai??i?? which suggests that the Frenchman will decide upon his future at the club based on the success he delivers next season.
