Manchester United are interested in signing defender Diego Lugano from PSG, while Blackburn Rovers are keen to appoint Maradona as their manager.

Manchester United Eyeing A Move For PSG Defender Lugano

According to reports in Caughtoffside, Manchester United are ready to make a January move for PSG defender Diego Lugano.

United have had to deal with a lot of injury worries, specially to defenders, this season with Vidic, Jones and Smalling having spells at the sidelines. In fact United have had to use Carrick as a central defender at times. It is believed that Sir Alex is looking to bring in reinforcements in January to fill up the gap at the back. But he is unlikely to look for a long term deal as his present crop of young defenders are the ones for the future. Lugano, 31-year-old, seemingly fits the bill perfectly.

The Uruguayan international has failed to make an impact at PSG since his arrival at the French club from Fenerbahce back in 2011. His poor form and injury has meant that he has made only 12 appearances for the club so far. Following Thiago Silvaai??i??s arrival this summer, his days at the club seem to be numbered. So PSG would certainly sell him, if they find an interested party.

But here is where the question arises ai??i?? why would United be interested in him?

To solve his injury woes, why would Sir Alex buy a 31-year-old defender (who is well past his best) and whose fitness record leaves a lot to be desired. Moreover, Jones and Smalling are expected to be back to full fitness in another week, while Vidic will be back before December. So why would Sir Alex need another center back in January?

Interestingly, few days back, Caughtoffside linked Liverpool and Bayern Munich with a move for Lugano and they mentioned German website 4-4-2 as their source, but this transfer rumour linking United to the defender has no mention of source in it.

Shebby Singh Wants Maradona At Blackburn Rovers

The Dailymail reports that Shebby Singh wants Diego Maradona to take charge at Blackburn Rovers.

Shebby Singh, who is in charge of recruitment at Blackburn, is under pressure to announce a new manager at the Lancashire club this week. Maradona is the latest addition to growing list of names who have been linked with the vacant managerial post at the club. Earlier Roy Keane, Harry Redknapp, Gianfranco Zola and Henning Berg were linked with this role.

Maradona, who recently ended his disastrous spell at Arabian club Al Wasl, is surely the last manager Blackburn fans will look to see in charge given the instability the club has gone through in recent past.
