The Mirror has reported that Liverpool will make a bid to land Swansea hitman Michu in case their attempt to bring Daniel Sturridge to Anfield falls through.
Liverpool are certain to boost their striking options in the January transfer window with the club left with just Luis Suarez as the only recognized striker in their ranks due to Borini’s injury and Carroll being sent on loan. The club’s first choice, though, is believed to be Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge, who is wanting a way out of Stamford Bridge in search of regular first team football. However, the deal might fall through due to the high wage demands of the Englishman who wants at least A?80,000 a week. Moreover, with Suarez excelling in the role of the front-man, Sturridge is likely to get regular playing time more as a winger as opposed to a striker. But the Chelsea man will prefer to lead the attack in order to get back in the National team. Michu, who has been absolutely brilliant for Swansea this season, is being hailed as one of the buys of the summer. Although, it will be difficult for Liverpool to pull this one off, if they do, it will be counted as one of the more astute signings by Brendan Rodgers. The Spaniard is an excellent ball-player and will be a perfectly suited to the brand of football Rodgers is trying to promote at the Anfield club. Moreover, he looks to be a natural goal-scorer, one who is badly needed at the club at this moment in time. Michu can also play as an attacking midfielder and hence can play behind Suarez in the line-up making it a lethal attacking duo for the defence to cope with.
