THT Transfer Watch: News And Verdicts – August 27, 2011

Pandev moves to Napoli on loan

THT Verdict: Good move for all parties involved. Pandev hasn’t had the best time at Inter and a fresh start at Napoli could work out well for him. For the Azzurri though, he will act as a very good back up to the likes of Lavezzi, Cavani and Hamsik and provide depth and experience in what is going to be a long season for them.

Chelsea are ready to part company with central defender Alex in a bid to secure the signing of Milos Krasic from Juventus.

THT Verdict: Not Happening. Krasic was one of Juve’s best players last season and is an integral part of the team. Juve won’t let go off their best offensive player to sign Alex and might look at other defensive options such as Lugano or Bruno Alves if Chelsea aren’t willing to budge.

Chelsea are in the hunt for Porto schemer Joao Moutinho as their chase for Luka Modric falters.

THT Verdict: The hunt for a central midfielder will be on overdrive in the last few days, approaching to the deadline day. Chelsea have been linked to Moutinho, who has a release clause of around 35m, and are also tipped to bid 40m for Modric. Rather than spending so much money on Moutinho, or being held to a ransom by Tottenham, it would be better for Chelsea to explore other options such as Fiorentina’s Riccardo Montolivo, who not only will come for a lot less but his club is also willing to sell him. At 35m and 40m, the club will be again overpaying for Moutinho and Modric respectively, which is certainly not advisable.
