Everton will look to sign 28-year-old English international Marcus Rashford from Manchester United in the January transfer window.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Everton and Manchester United have held talks over a possible move for Marcus Rashford in the next transfer window. The Toffees are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in January, and they have their sights set on the 28-year-old forward, who has been valued at €30 million by the Red Devils.
Per Football Transfers, Rashford’s long association with Manchester United is “expected to – belatedly – come to an end in 2027”, with the report adding that a January departure is possible. However, it is unclear if Everton will ttempt to seal a loan deal or a permanent move in the coming weeks, with talks to sign the Englishman at an exploratory stage.
The Marcus Rashford predicament
Marcus Rashford enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign at Barcelona following his arrival from Manchester United on a season-long loan deal last summer. The 28-year-old scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists across 49 outings in all competitions, averaging a goal contribution every 93 minutes.
However, despite these impressive displays, a permanent transfer to Barcelona did not materialise after they chose to sign Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi instead. A move to another club also did not go through due to Manchester United’s €30 million asking price and his high wages. With Rashford yet to contribute to a goal in 502 minutes of game time across eight outings since returning to Manchester United, speculation surrounding him has resurfaced.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Everton’s interest in Marcus Rashford carries tactical merit. David Moyes has only one striker in his squad after the Merseyside club failed to replace Beto following his deadline-day summer move to Fiorentina. Additionally, the Toffees need more quality on the flanks, with Jack Grealish yet to show the levels he produced in the 2025/26 season.
Rashford has thus emerged as a viable target, as he can be an alternative to Grealish on the left flank or Thierno Barry up front. As a dual-threat wide attacker and striker, Rashford could eliminate Everton’s need to pursue a centre-forward to replace Beto, though specialist striker Nicolo Tresoldi remain on the club’s wishlist.

However, with talks at a preliminary stage, Rashford’s stance over a move to Everton remains unknown, along with his wage demands, considering the Merseyside outfit cannot afford his current salary. So, a move remains contingent on how talks between the three parties conclude.
