Liverpool need to return with another bid to sign 22-year-old Gambian international Yankuba Minteh after failing with a second offer.
According to a report by Sky Sports, Yankuba Minteh remains the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the ongoing transfer window, and they have their sights set on the 22-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion winger.
However, per Sky Sports, Liverpool’s latest bid, worth £60 million, has not been enough to convince Brighton & Hove Albion to sell. That is because the Seagulls are demanding around £70 million to part ways with the promising winger, according to a report by The Times.
Yankuba Minteh and his progress in the Premier League
Yankuba Minteh has established himself as one of the most promising young prospects in the Premier League since joining Brighton & Hove Albion from Newcastle United in July 2024. The 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last two seasons, becoming a regular in the final third for the club.
However, the Gambian winger’s output has not been at the desired levels, as he has managed only ten goals and nine assists in 73 appearances for Brighton thus far. While the numbers need to improve, his pacy outlet and raw talent have attracted top clubs, with Liverpool among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Liverpool’s interest in Yankuba Minteh makes sense. The Reds have been combing the market for a wide attacker throughout the transfer window, as Mohamed Salah has left a gaping hole in the offensive unit at Anfield. They were already reeling from Luis Diaz’s departure to Bayern Munich last summer, and Salah’s exit this year has exacerbated the issue on the flanks.
While Victor Munoz has arrived at Anfield this summer, the Merseyside outfit must sign at least one more winger to give Andoni Iraola enough options for both flanks. Bradley Barcola has thus been a top target for Liverpool, and recent reports have claimed that they are optimistic of signing the Paris Saint-Germain winger.
However, with a deal yet to materialise and the summer transfer window expiring in a few days, the Merseyside giants have evidently kept their options open. But with Brighton demanding £70 million to part ways with Minteh, Liverpool must return with a third proposal to sign the Gambian winger.
