Manchester City looking to replace Ederson and Stefan Ortega

Manchester City are ready to move on from current goalkeepers Ederson Moraes and Stefan Ortega, with younger alternatives likely to arrive in the summer.

According to Football Insider, Manchester City are ready to offload Ederson Moraes and Stefan Ortega in the summer. Pep Guardiola is expected to completely revamp the goalkeeping ranks with younger alternatives to the experienced duo, as some names are being linked in recent reports.

Ederson Moraes is considered one of the best keepers in the world, and he has been a mainstay at Manchester City since his high-profile arrival from Benfica. The Brazilian international has predominantly been Pep Guardiola’s No.1, with Stefan Orteta often playing the role of a quality backup.

Ortega has been itching for a starting role and has been tremendous whenever called upon. With the German and Ederson, Manchester City boasted one of the best goalkeeping depth in the league as well as Europe, with Guardiola now ready to dismantle the idea and sell the experienced duo.

Both Ederson and Ortega’s deals end in 2026, with the upcoming summer window presenting the best chance possible to cash in on the experienced duo. Ederson is likely to seal a switch to Saudi Arabia, as he was close to leaving the Etihad last summer before being persuaded to stay put for another season.

Ortega has big interest from some European sides, as AC Milan are the latest to join the race for the German, while there’s interest from Bayer Leverkusen. Either way, he’s expected to leave alongside Ederson, as Manchester City are ready to replace the experienced duo with younger alternatives.

Manchester City to sign new goalkeepers

Manchester City are ready to take their market opportunity on Ederson and Ortega to secure valuable funds in exchange. They are already linked with FC Porto’s Diogo Costa, who is seen as a priority signing as well as the direct replacement for No.1 Ederson.

There are links to Joan Garcia, although Manchester City are not the clear favourites to land the Spaniard who has big interest from the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona ahead of the summer. There’s still no clarity on who Guardiola prefers to replace the experienced duo with, as there could be some names emerging in the upcoming period.
