Bernardo Silva keen on Barcelona switch, ready to take pay cut for move

Bernardo Silva could be looking to leave Manchester City, with Barcelona still his priority destination as the midfielder is ready to take a pay cut.

According to Sport, Bernardo Silva is keen to make the move to Barcelona in the summer with the Manchester City star even willing to take a pay cut. The Portuguese international is tipped to leave the Eithad in the summer following his flirtation with an exit for a few years now, although there are doubts whether the Catalans want him anymore.

Bernardo Silva will reflect on this terrible season at Manchester City alongside many of his high-profile teammates. For a few years now, the Portuguese midfielder has flirted with the idea of leaving the Etihad, although his huge asking price might have been an issue as well as Pep Guardiola’s powers of persuasion to keep him at the club.

However, heading into the summer, Silva will enter the final year of his deal at the Etihad which could open fresh links over an exit. The report states there is a big possibility of his departure as Manchester City are planning fundamental changes to their squad in the close season, and Silva could be one of them to leave.

Bernardo Silva reportedly has a €50 million release clause, and there has been interest from PSG, who are keen to explore a move if the conditions are right. The report also mentions a possible move to Saudi Arabia, although the Manchester City star reportedly wants to make a move to Spain, specifically Barcelona.

Real Madrid were keen as per a few reports, although they are not overly enthusiastic about investing heavily in a position they might have different ideas for. Barcelona do retain an interest, although they are not as keen as they were in previous summer windows.

Bernardo Silva ready to take pay cut to seal Barcelona move

Silva has also been linked with a move back to former side Benfica, and while the move may not materialise, he could be very close to sealing his exit from Manchester City in the summer. On the subject of potentially joining Barcelona, the €50 million-rated Manchester City playmaker is also ready to make an effort from his end and take a pay cut to fit into the Catalan side’s plans.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona also want the move, as Hansi Flick is not overly keen to secure players at the age that Bernardo Silva is in. The German tactician would ideally prefer someone younger and with long-term prospects, which could turn the tide in the Silva saga, who might have to choose another destination to continue his career after the curtains at the Etihad close.
