Andrea Cambiaso has reportedly edged closer to joining Manchester City, with the Premier League champions having the “framework of a summer deal in place” to land him.
According to a report by Give Me Sport, Andrea Cambiaso remains the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions are close to landing the Juventus wide player, as they have a broad agreement over the parameters of a deal for the Italian international heading into the summer transfer window.
Andrea Cambiaso and his rise at Juventus
Andrea Cambiaso has been one of the best players in Serie A since returning to Juventus from a loan spell with Bologna at the end of the 2022/23 season. The player has come leaps and bounds in the last 18 months, becoming a mainstay at the back for the Bianconeri.
The 25-year-old can play as a left-back and a right-back, with that versatility making him an asset for Juventus. Cambiaso has turned out over 50 times thus far for the Serie A giants while chipping in with five goals and eight assists.
Meanwhile, Cambiaso’s progress in the last 18 months has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Widespread reports have linked the Italian international with European bigwigs like Real Madrid. However, Manchester City will likely beat the competition to his signature in the summer transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Manchester City mulled over signing Andrea Cambiaso in the winter transfer window before shelving the move until the summer. The Premier League champions need a new left-back and a right-back heading into the 2025/26 season, considering Kyle Walker has played his final game for the club.
In addition, Pep Guardiola does not have a recognised left-back in his squad, while Rico Lewis, the only natural right-back, has blown hot and cold. So, Cambiaso is a viable target for Manchester City, although it is unclear which position he will reinforce. The latest update has boosted Manchester City’s prospects, with the Citizens having a “framework in place” over a summer deal.
Juventus wanted around £67 million to part ways with Cambiaso this past winter. However, it is unclear how much Manchester City will cough up to sign the 25-year-old Italian international in the summer transfer window as the player closes in on arriving at the Etihad.
