Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing 24-year-old Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, a target for Chelsea and Manchester United.
As per a report by Football Insider, Arsenal and Liverpool are set to enter the race for Marc Guehi, who cost Crystal Palace £18 million. The Englishman was heavily linked with a move away from Crystal Palace during the winter transfer window.
Tottenham failed with a £70 million offer to get the deal done on deadline day. The England international has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League, and it is no surprise that top clubs want to secure his signature. Guehi will want to compete at the highest level, and the opportunity to play for big clubs will be quite exciting for him.
Arsenal and Liverpool could provide the Englishman with the platform to compete at the highest level and push for major trophies. Both clubs are competing in the UEFA Champions League and they are pushing for the league title as well. The two Premier League bigwigs need to improve their squad at the end of the season, and signing a quality central defender could prove to be a wise decision.
Liverpool, in particular, need to add more depth at the back. With Virgil van Dijk in his thirties, they need to plan a succession as well. The Dutchman will be out of contract in the summer, and Liverpool have not managed to secure an extension with him yet. The Crystal Palace defender could prove to be an interesting acquisition, and he could replace the Liverpool captain.
Arsenal, Chelsea, and Spurs keen on Marc Guehi
As far as Arsenal are concerned, the North London outfit need to add more depth to the squad so that they can do well across multiple competitions. Signing a proven Premier League performer would be a wise decision.
Chelsea and Tottenham are in the race to sign the player as well. It will be interesting to see if the English defender is willing to return to Chelsea. He might feel that he has unfinished business at his boyhood club.
Tottenham have four reliable central defenders at their disposal, but they need to sign another to add adequate depth and quality to the side. It remains to be seen whether they decide to return for the 24-year-old Englishman in the summer.
